The RippinSki is notable for its remarkable skiability thanks to a forgiving flex pattern and easy turning shape, allowing skiers of all abilities to comfortably tackle the ever-changing nature of the mountains. At 99mm underfoot with a progressive modern sidecut, the RippinSki feels at home on piste but isn’t too shy to tackle the occasional remote Alaska peak.
The Fairweather Ski Works RippinSki pays tribute to the long standing history of ski building here in the Chilkat Valley. In the 1900s, early residents would carve birch planks into skis to travel through deep snow. The first of these was christened the Ripinskis, after the 3599′ Mt. Ripinski that looms above town. While our solid birch core stock remains true to the original, we’ve modernized a few of the other aspects on the 2016 RippinSki to create our most approachable and user-friendly ski design ever.
“Odin” the Wizard, by Anchorage artist Aurora Sidney Ando (https://sidneyando.wordpress.com/author/sidneyando/) holds it down on the tail of the RippinSkis on top of a local birch wood topsheet.
