There’s salmon in these skis! And not just in the original, hand-printed Sockeye gyotaku fish print by local Haines artist Lindsay Johnson, but in the core itself. Salmon play a critical role in Southeast Alaska’s forest ecosystem as their nitrogen-rich corpses are consumed by the forest after spawning. Throw your bindings on a pair of Fairweather Sockeyes and take these fishies to heights that would make a king salmon jealous.
The Sockeyes are the ultimate surf and turf. Their infused birch wood core is nimble and playful for casual tree skiing and backcountry cruisin’. The most forgiving ski in our backcountry/mid-fat fleet features a stable platform underfoot and a floaty footprint to keep on top of the soft stuff. While they lack some of the ultralight technology found elsewhere in our lineup, they are still plenty light for the skin track and pack enough uumph to plow through the unexpected bumps and warbles of the mountains.
